It has been a hectic period of eating, traveling, and midterming. All of my posts are about 2-3 weeks behind schedule, but I have finally caught up! I officially finished all my midterms last week because my professor had us on a different schedule from Yonsei's.
Korean students take studying very seriously as in they study very hard. Cafes are popular places because you enjoy free Wifi along with availability of drinks and foods. A lot of students will camp out at 24 hour cafes during midterm week and just study until the take their tests. At Yonsei, there are two libraries, the central one and the Samsung one. I have only been to the Samsung one because it is known to be the largest in Korea. The vast collection of information and resources is vital to the education of Yonsei students. The only way in and out is with a Yonsei ID. You can also rent a space at a table with your ID, the kiosks are simple to use because they offer the English option. The central library offers study lounges and a community area which is open 24 hours. Students can actually take naps here and they definitely do before their tests.
Food here is the best, it's so cheap and tasty. Many of my favorite restaurants are located in Sinchon (Yonsei) and DMC (where we live). It is going to be a struggle going back to less options in Hawaii. Campus food is quite tasty and very cheap as well. There are three food courts and they all offer a variety of food. My favorite is the tonkatsu kimbap. For dessert, must have bingsoo! I think the best place (in my opinion) is 설빙 - Sulbing. This is a chain, so they have one in Sinchon and one right in the MBC plaza near where we live. I eat this frequently, maybe a bit too much, but might as well since I only have a month left!
11/11 was Pepero day! It's like Friendship Day, where you gift each other pepero. I thought this was super sweet and wanted to share! Pepero goes on sale and everyone feels loved, it's great.
