Continuing from my last post....MAROON 5. I think I forgot to mention that they also were performing in Seoul, but those tickets were sold out a few days after they were released. Our only option to see them would be to go through the same process of getting to Daegu Stadium on Thursday. I finished class at 12 pm and met Lily (other Freeman Scholar) at Seoul Station around 1:30 pm . This time, since it was just the two of us and we had already been through the ticketing and train then taxi riding, we got to the stadium smoothly arriving at 5:00 pm ish. We exchanged the email confirmation for our tickets and sat in the park until we could go in at 7:00 pm. Our seats were pretty good, but we noticed that a lot of seats in front of us were empty (say what)! Maroon 5 killed it, all the fans knew their songs and sang along. The concert was opened by Dirty Loops, then they came on at 9:00 pm, played until 10:30 pm. We knew we had about 40 minutes to get back to the station to catch the last bullet train home. When we got outside, we expected it to be easy to catch a taxi. But, they were all reserved. LUCKILY, we found some really friendly people who helped us call a taxi, I think they actually let us take their taxi because we explained where and when we needed to be. The taxi got us to the taxi at exactly 11:10 pm, we watched as the bullet train sped away. We had some options...we could have slept at the station and wait for the first bullet train (at 5 am) or ride the express bus, about a 4 hour ride. We decided to get tickets for the express bus. This drove us straight to Seoul Station with one pit stop. Then came the hard part.....riding the taxi alone. I highly advise you to avoid this at all costs. But in my case, since Lily lived the other way, I had to do it. Taxi drivers usually don't speak any English and I have heard stories of drivers taking advantage of foreigners by driving around a place before getting to the destination. I was worried about this and about directing him to where I live because I didn't have the Korean address. Again, I got lucky and he was really nice, tried his best to understand me and he drove extra speedy. I got home and crashed...
Woke up the next day to go to a theme park, Everland!!!! I had to go yesterday because theres's a 50% discount for foreigners that started in July and will expire at the end of September. Looking at the schedule, I knew that this would be my only free weekday to go. Getting to Everland took about 2-3 hours. We had planned to leave early, but we ended up leaving at 1:00 pm to get there around 3:30 pm. Before you go to the theme park, always look up discounts, directions, and the map of the park. We didn't do the last part and had trouble deciding which rides to go on. IT WAS FUN ANYWAYS, I definitely recommend going.
All the struggles of the week that I endured, paid off.
